Summary[edit]

Description

English: Sculpture by Òscar Estruga from Vilanova i la Geltrú, made of bronze.

Poseidon, god of the sea, sent a white bull to King Minos of Crete to sacrifice him in his honor. King Minos did not, provoking Poseidon's wrath. The god took revenge by making the king's wife, Pasiphae, fall madly in love with that white bull. Under the orders of the queen, Daedalus - who was the engineer of the time - made a wooden cow, where Pasiphae hid. Thus, Pasiphae, was able to consummate his love with the white bull. From their union the minotaur was born.

The death of the minotaur, thanks to the Athenian Theseus, freed all the peoples of the Mediterranean from fear.
