Patricio Aylwin Azócar (Viña del Mar, Chile, 26 de noviembre de 1918-) es un político democratacristiano y jurista chileno. Fue presidente del Senado de 1971 a 1972 y primer mandatario de su país durante el periodo comprendido entre 1990 y 1994. Aylwin fue el gobernante que sucedió a Augusto Pinochet, quien estuvo por dieciséis años y medio al mando de Chile luego de derrocar al presidente Salvador Allende en el año 1973 por la vía de un golpe de Estado. El periodo que encabezó Aylwin constituye la llamada etapa de la transición a la democracia en el país sudamericano. |
