| Description | Penzance Station, Cornwall, 6 September 2021. The first, very basic, station was constructed here in 1852 by the West Cornwall Railway but following its take-over of by the GWR in 1876 a new station with an overall roof was built, opening in 1879. It was designed by William Lancaster Owen. A fourth platform was added outside the roofed part of the station in 1937 on land reclaimed from the sea. Pictured is Platform 4 and welcome sign. The car park is on the site of the former goods yard that was also on reclaimed land. |
