English: An engraving of Virgil's Aeneid, book twelve verse 283, showing Messapus (left) killing king Aulestes, and Ebysus (right) being set alight by Corynaeus, during the breaking of the truce between the Trojans and Rutulians. Plate 48 from G. J. Lang and G. C. Eimmart's Peplus virtutum Romanarum in Aenea Virgiliano eiusque rebus fortiter gestis, ad maiorem antiquitatis et rerum lucem, communi iuventutis sacratae bono, aere renitens (1688).
