Description

Grave of Eugène Scribe in Père Lachaise cemetery.

Français : LA SCULPTURE DANS LES CIMETIÈRES DE PARIS:

Scribe (Augustin-Eugène), auteur dramatique, membre de l'Académie française, né à Paris le 24 décembre 1791, décédé dans la même ville le 20 février 1861. — Monument composé d'une pyramide à base quadrangulaire. Sur la face antérieure est le médaillon en marbre de l'auteur dramatique, par Adam-Salomon. Sur la base sont sculptés en relief des masques, des flûtes, etc. Signé : Paul Lebègue invt. Dans la face postérieure est pratiqué un enfoncement formant une sorte de chapelle dans laquelle sont placés les médaillons de Scribe et de Marie-Julie-Clarisse Marduel, veuve Eugène Scribe, née à Paris le 19 avril 1808, décédée à Paris le 20 avril 1884. Ces médaillons, en plâtre, ont été modelés par Melle Fanny Dubois-Davesnes. (35e div.)
