Description
English: 19th century Benchmark of general levelling in France, next to the main portal of Perpignan Cathedral, showing the
level of 32 meters above the Mediterranean Sea. These iron seals were introduced by French topographer Paul-Adrien Bourdalouë.
In the 19th century, he laid out a network of 15,000 iron seals across France, providing the country's first level-lines.
