Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Phoenix Mars spacecraft's MET weather mast deployed on the surface of Mars, as imaged by Phoenix on Sol 1 day 2. The top of the mast contains one of the three rectangular temperature sensors and the wind monitor. They are both 2.3 metres above the surface. The wind monitor, known as a telltale and made by Denmark's Aarhus University, comprises a vertical tube and a suspended ball, and Phoenix cameras will measure its movement and determine wind direction and strength.

Original description:

The surface stereo imager right acquired this image at 14:55:01 local solar time. The camera pointing was elevation 10.7538 degrees and azimuth 236.65 degrees.
