Summary
[edit]DescriptionPhotograph of Operation Dominic (Event Arkansas), Christmas Island Area, Airdrop-Low Megaton.jpg |
English: Mushroom cloud of shot Dominic Arkansas Kiritimati Island (then Christmas Island, not to be confused with Christmas Island in the Indian Ocean).
Note the aircraft in the foreground is a B-57 Canberra. The smoke is from its black powder cartridge starting system. It’s likely this was being started to conduct sampling research post-detonation.
