Original Image Name: Piciwiki_israel_61256_IMG_20200125_163304.jpg Notes: הצלבנים הקימו מבצר צלבני על ראש גבעה הניצבת במרכז אזור. המבצר הוקם בשנת 1099 במהלך מסע הצלב הראשון, ונקרא "מצודת המישור" (Chateau de Plain). בשנת 1187 החריב צלאח א-דין את המצודה. ב-1191 שב ריצ'רד לב הארי והקימה מחדש. עם כיבוש ארץ ישראל בידי הממלוכים בשנת 1268, הרס בייברס את המצודה באופן סופי, וכיום נותרו ממנה רק שרידים. השרידים הארכאולוגיים כוללים את חלקו התחתון של מגדל שנבנה במאה ה-12 לספירה וקטע של קיר תוחם מצפון מזרח למגדל. בחלקה המערבי של הגבעה מסגד מהתקופה העות'מאנית.
