Original Image Name: Piciwiki_israel_65414_David Tower 2019 Fixed23.jpg Notes: מויקיפדיהמגדל דוד הוא הכינוי שניתן למצודה אשר הגנה במשך אלפי שנים על העיר ירושלים. למרות שמה של המצודה אין קשר בינה לבין דוד המלך ושמה זה ניתן לה אלפי שנים אחרי קיומו המשוער. המצודה שוכנת באחד המקומות הגבוהים בעיר העתיקה מעל נקודת ההשקה של גיא בן הינום ונחל צולב. נקודה אסטרטגית זו היוותה עילה להקים ביצור במקום במטרה להגן על העיר ממערב. במהלך ההיסטוריה היה למצודה חלק מרכזי בהגנת העיר והיא שימשה מרכז שלטוני וצבאי. כיום שוכן בה מוזיאון לתולדות ירושלים. המצודה צמודה אל פתח החומה ליד שער יפו.
