Description
Français : Vue sur la Place du Général De Gaulle à Vitré (Ille-et-Vilaine). La Rue Garangeot (à gauche), la Rue de la Borderie (en face), la Rue Neuve (à droite), la Rue de la Liberté (à l'extrême droite) et dans le prolongement, le Boulevard Saint-Martin (percé en 1937). Ce quartier est entouré d'immeubles bourgeois Haussmanniens caractéristiques du 19e siècle. La Rue Neuve se trouve au niveau des anciens fossés qui entouraient la ville close. Le percement tardif du Boulevard Saint-Martin avait pour but de dégager la perspective sur la nouvelle Église Saint-Martin, bénite en 1885. Elle fut construite pour répondre à la demande croissante des Vitréens, trop à l'étroit dans l'Église Notre-Dame du fait de l'accroissement démographique, de l'urbanisation de la ville vers le Sud et de l'arrivée du 70e Régiment d'Infanterie dans la seconde moitié du 19e siècle.
