Summary[edit]

Description
English: Map of Fort Negrete (made by Jose Miguel Faez and found in the National Archives of Chile): base plane reconstruction Negrete, December 12, 1861, as a Chilean fort, part of the plan of military occupation and incorporation of the town Mapuche, who lived south of the Bio-Bio river, the river was for centuries considered the boundary or natural boundary, agreed in the various treaties or parliaments, between Spain and the Mapuche people, and even in the last parliament of Tapihue, 1825 between Chile and the Mapuche people. A program designed and executed by Colonel Cornelio Saavedra Rodriguez, during the presidency of Jose Joaquin Perez Mascayano, in the context of the beginning of the Occupation of Araucanía, euphemistically misnamed Pacification of Araucanía, in the final stage of the War of Arauco, involving the incorporation of Mapuche territory to the Chilean state and the reduction of the Mapuche people by the Army of the Republic of Chile, where Cornelio Saavedra served as Inspector General Gregory Urrutia Venegas as Commander in Chief of the Army of Occupation of Arauco.
