Summary
[edit]DescriptionPlumbingCodeResearch 003.jpg | Flow conditions in a top floor wet vented bathtub trap. Hydraulic engineers at NBS cooperated with the Housing and Home Finance Agency's effort to develop a nationwide uniform plumbing code. To provide technical data on some of the problems involved, NBS erected in its Hydraulics Laboratory full-scale plumbing systems for one- and two-story duplex houses. These systems exactly duplicated ordinary home plumbing except in one important respect- the pipes and fittings (pictured) were made of transparent plastic. Research was directed toward solving some of the more controversial plumbing problems, which were attested to by the variance in plumbing code requirements in municipalities throughout the United States. Motion pictures were made of the important tests so that local groups would have visual facts to work with when plumbing code revision was considered. | ||||
