Description

Here the potential "dippers" wait their turn to take a plunge into the frigid waters of Houghton Lake. This crowd was still on shore near the changing tents. The dip occurs at the DNR boat launch on the south side of the lake.

While the air temperature was about 27 degrees, a strong wind at 20/+ mph brought the wind chill into the low teens.

I was a bit disappointed as they changed how the folks waited for their plunge. In the past, this angle provided a good perspective; now there were no good angles (straight on had Christmas trees in the way).

Taken about 1 pm on the second Saturday of Tip-Up Town USA, the annual winter festival at Houghton Lake, MI.
