Summary[edit]

Description
English: The memorial to the victims of World War II is located on a rocky promontory near the Barrandov Terraces above the Vltava River above "K Barrandovu" Street in Prague 5 (Czech republic). It is a memorial dedicated to the fighters of the Prague Barricades who perished in May 1945 in Hlubočepy, Zlíchov, Zbraslav, Barrandov, Velká and Malá Chuchle and Lahovice. The memorial was erected in 1988 as a replacement for numerous small monuments and memorials to the fallen in May 1945, which were scattered in the area affected by extensive construction work, ie in places of access roads (and highway leading to Pilsen), which were built as part of the construction of Prague's Barrandovsky bridge. The memorial had two parts: a mosaic depicting fighting barricaders and a bronze memorial plaque with a list of names and dates of birth of all 168 (on the left bank of the Vltava) fallen defenders during the liberation of Prague in May 1945.
