Summary

[edit]
Description
English: The Pont Valentré is a six-span fortified stone arch bridge crossing the Lot River at Cahors France. It took 70 years to build and has been in use since 1350.

It's 138 metres (450 ft) long and the top of the towers are 40 metres (130 ft) high. Today it takes pedestrian traffic and is a major tourist attraction.

The bridge is on the pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela in north-west Spain (about 1,200 km -750 miles from here) and daily pilgrims can be seen crossing this ancient bridge on their long trek.
