| Description |
View from Castelo de São Jorge in Lisboa. The 2277 m long Ponte 25 de April bridge spans the wide Tejo river, connecting the Almada muncipality with Lisbon. It is often compared to the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco because of its color and form (it was actually constructed by the same company). On the left the Cristo Rei monument can be seen. It was inspired by the Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and inaugurated on May 17, 1959. This time I didn't visit the monument, but I did back in 2005. |
