עברית: מפקד האוכלוסין 1948. ספירת האוכלוסייה הראשונה במדינת ישראל נערכה בנובמבר 1948, זמן קצר לאחר הקמת המדינה, בעיצומה של מלחמת השחרור. את המפקד ערכה הלשכה המרכזית לסטטיסטיקה בשיתוף עם משרד הפנים. במפקד זה נערך רישום של התושבים, שמטרתו העיקרית הייתה הקמת מרשם האוכלוסין והכנת בסיס לחלוקת תעודות זהות לתושבים לקראת הבחירות לכנסת הראשונה. מפקד 1948 יצר את הבסיס לנתוני הסטטיסטיקה בארץ. בשלב השני, ביום המפקד, ה-8 בנובמבר 1948, הוטל עוצר בית כללי למשך 7 שעות. מטרת העוצר הייתה להבטיח שכל התושבים יהיו בבתיהם בזמן ביקור הפוקדים ויתפקדו, ובמקביל, להקטין את הסיכון שייפקדו יותר מפעם אחת, בשני מקומות. הפוקדים שבו בזמן העוצר לבתים ובדקו את נכונות הרישומים מהשלב הראשון, הוסיפו או הפחיתו את האנשים שנוספו או נגרעו מאז הביקור הראשון, קיבלו מכל תושב תמונה ומסרו לו ספח שכלל את מספר הזיהוי שבאמצעותו קיבל מאוחר יותר את תעודת הזהות הרשמית. |
