Henry de Burgh, 12th Earl and 1st Marquess of Clanricarde (1742 – 1797), in gold-trimmed buff coat and waistcoat On ivory Oval, 37 mm. high, gilt-metal bracelet frame with diamond-set surround, the reverse engraved Henry 12th Earl / and / 1st Marquess of Clanricarde The sitter was the son of John Smith de Burgh, 11th Earl of Clanricarde. He was an MP in the Irish House of Commons representing Galway County. He was a Knight of the Order of St Patrick and a member of the Privy Council of Ireland and Governor and Custos Rotulorum of County Galway. |
