The sitter is Rachel, daughter and heiress of Hans Busk (1718-1792) of Long Houghton Hall and Bullhouse Hall, Penistone (see lot 189). Rachel married, in 1781, Richard Slater Milnes (1759-1804) of Fryston Hall, Ferrybridge, M.P. for York between 1784-1802 (see lot 190).
