43 by 42 cm.; 17 by 16 1/2 in.

The present portrait is the earliest known work by the artist, who probably reached Rome in 1642 in the company James Alban Gibbes. He became a member of the Academy of St Luke in Rome in 1648 and stayed until 1653 or 1654, when he travelled to Flanders.
