Description

INEOS TEAM UK - off it's foils in the start box for Race One of the Prada Cup Final. The wind was very light in this first race; INEOS fell off their foils while Luna Rossa remained on theirs and consequently, the race was effectively lost for INEOS from this point!

In the Prada Cup Final, Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli and INEOS TEAM UK are racing in a best of 13 (or first to win 7 races) for the right to race Emirates Team New Zealand for the 36th America’s Cup (affectionately known as the Auld Mug). The Prada Cup Final races are being held from February 13 to February 24, 2021 in Auckland, New Zealand. The boats are AC75s, 75 foot foiling monohulls.

Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli went on to win this race. Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli is helmed by Francesco Bruni and Jimmy Spithill; INEOS TEAM UK is helmed by Sir Ben Ainslie.

Photo taken from an on-water spectator boat but unfortunately the boats were still several hundred metres away (too far for my 300mm lens) and to make matters worse, were backlit.
