| Description |
English: The old vicarage of Landakot by Túngata was originally built as a one storey building for the vicar of Reykjavík cathedral in 1837. It was purchased by French missionary Bernard Bernard in 1859 and became the center of his catholic mission in Iceland. First they built a small chapel next to it, and then a wooden church, before the current stone cathedral was inaugurated in 1927. The vicarage was enlarged with one storey added in 1896. It was restored to its 1896 form in 1998. It is a protected building. |
