Proposed mechanism for the relationship between ectopic agouti expression and the development of ‘yellow obese mouse syndrome

Summary[edit]

Description
English: This relationship is characterized in mice, however, proposed to be comparable in humans through similarity in genomic sequence and analagous actions of ASP on melanocortin receptors, leading to the development of characteristics associated with ‘yellow obese mouse syndrome’ in humans. Viable yellow mutation represented as agouti mRNA. IAP = Intracisternal A particle, ASP = agouti signaling protein (human agouti homologue), AGRP = agouti related protein, ? = not currently known.
