Dan lud der König den Grafen zur Spazierfahrt mit ein. Der Kater lief dem Wagen voraus und sprach zu den Bauern, die beim Mähen waren: "Ihr guten Leute, wenn ihr dem Könige nicht sagt, daß das Getreide, das ihr mähet, dem Grafen von Carabas gehört, so werdet ihr in Kochstücke zerhackt." Als der König kam und fragte, antworteten sie alle einmütig: Dem Grafen von Carabas." Der König war erfreut über die großen Besitzungen des Grafen. = Then the king invited the supposed count to go for a drive with him. The cat ran ahead of the coach and spoke to the peasants who were mowing: "Good people, if you do not tell the king that the grain you are reaping belongs to the Count of Carabas, you will be hacked into pieces." When the king arrived and asked, they all answered with one voice: "The Count of Carabas." The king was delighted with the count's vast possessions.
