Français : Des gendarmes (Pyrrhocoris apterus) à Chemnitz, Allemagne.
La punaise a toujours une tête noire et non tachetée (1), les yeux (2) sont situés sur les côtés, l'œil a une couleur rouge-violet. Le pronotum (3) est bordé de rouge mais noir au milieu, le pronotum et la tache noire sont de forme carrée. Derrière le pronotum se trouve le scutellum ou bouclier (4), visible sous la forme d'une petite plaque triangulaire derrière laquelle se trouvent les ailes antérieures. Le scutellum est de couleur noire, mais comme la partie arrière de l'aile a également une bordure noire et repose contre le scutellum, le scutellum fait partie d'un triangle noir plus grand. Les ailes antérieures des punaises telles que la punaise de feu sont constituées de différentes parties, la partie arrière s'appelle le clavus (5) et a donc une couleur noire, la partie médiane s'appelle le corium (6) et la partie extérieure s'appelle le embolie (7). Le corium et l'embolie sont de couleur rouge vif mais ont une petite tache noire au centre à l'avant (8) et une tache nettement plus grande à l'arrière (9).
