Description
Français : Ancienne gare frontière d'Aulnois-Quévy sur la ligne classique Paris-Bruxelles.

Electrifiée en 1963 à l'époque des grands express internationaux, c'est la seule du royaume à être commutable, c'est-à-dire qu'une partie des installations peut être alimentée sous deux tensions différentes, le standard 3 kV --CC local ou 25 kV 50 Hz ~CA français, selon usages. La vitesse de référence pour les relations ne desservant pas la gare est de 140 km/h.

Le trafic a fortement régressé fin des années 1990 suite à la mise en service de la LGV nord (passage par Lille), si bien que l'essentiel des mouvements est désormais assuré par des circulations fret entre les deux pays.

Plus au sud en territoire français, la ligne est rejointe à la bifurcation d'Hautmont par une autre artère importante, la dorsale wallonne (Cologne-Aix la Chapelle) Liège-Namur-Charleroi via Jeumont, autre halte commutable[1].

C'est une région qui demeure fortement industrielle avec l'important site Renault-MCA (Maubeuge Construction Automobile), et le noeud ferroviaire d'Aulnoye-Aymeries.
