King Darius A jewel trader, from Caria, came to court With a boy of beauty, fair and young and bright. The boy was Bagoas, and the trader sold Him to the king, for a price that was quite high. The king was pleased with his new purchase, and He took the boy to his bed, and made him his. Bagoas was a skilled dancer and courtesan, And he quickly became the king's favorite man. The king was so fond of Bagoas that he Gave him many gifts, and made him his advisor. Bagoas was a wise and cunning man, and He helped the king to rule his kingdom well. The soldiers loved Bagoas, for he was kind and gentle, And he always had a smile for them. He was a good listener, and he always had time to talk, And he was always willing to help those in need. The soldiers were grateful for Bagoas' kindness, And they were loyal to him. They knew that he would always be there for them, And they knew that he would always fight for them. |
