Stema comunei Brețcu, potrivit anexei nr. 1.1, se compune dintr-un scut triunghiular cu marginile rotunjite, tăiat.

În șef, în câmp verde, se află un tun de aur, cu țeava îndreptată spre stânga.

În câmpul inferior, pe fond roșu, se află un braț natural îmbrăcat în aur, ținând o scrisoare argintie, cu sigiliul roșu.

Scutul este trimbrat de o coroană murală de argint cu un turn crenelat.

Semnificațiile elementelor însumate

Verdele din șef semnifică bogăția silvică a localității.

Tunul face referire la revoluționarul pașoptist Gabor Aron, fabricant de tunuri, născut în această localitate.

Brațul care ține scrisoarea amintește de faptul că această localitate era punctul de frontieră, care asigura și serviciul de poștă dintre Transilvania și Moldova.

Coroana murală cu un turn crenelat semnifică faptul că localitatea are rangul de comună.
