Author | Seventeen of the woodcuts, illustrating Ambrose Philips' Imitation of Eclogue I (volume 1, pages 13-18) were designed and executed by William Blake as follows: Facing page 13, 14 (4 designs), 15 (4 designs), 16 (4 designs), 18 (4 designs). Three others in this series were engraved after Blake by another hand (facing page 17). The wood engraving facing page 21 was engraved by Byfield after a design by Blake based on that of Poussin. Six intaglio plates are signed "Blake, del. et sculp.": volume 1. 4 plates following page 4; volume 2. facing pages 229, 360. | |||
