English: The metal plate on this lamppost was off and lying on the pavement below. (Please scroll down.) I'd noticed this and taken a photo on 17 January 2018, but forgot to report it to Haringey Council.
Every Haringey streetlight has - or should have - a unique number shown on a tag. This was a system put in place some years ago by a senior former staff member named Steven Lain, working with another colleague Dave Stapely. This location is partly in Tottenham Green carpark, managed by Haringey Parking Service. And on a short footpath across a small council-owned green maintained by Haringey Parks Service. (Or perhaps maintained by contractors?). I wondered if there's a system in place where Haringey staff or their contractors are expected to report and share information on such faults? Or do they ignore it? ("Not part of my job") How far does reporting rely mainly on a member of the public taking time to tell the Council? Reports about streetlights are likely to include some which are damaged; or which fail to go on at night. Or are "dayburners" and stay on day and night. _______________________________ § The letters RT in the identification code stand for Rawlinson Terrace. § Google Maps shows the location. § Reported using the Fix My Street website. § Want to read a bit more about "dayburners"? Please click this link. 10 April 2010. Just past noon and Sumer was Icumen in. But a streetlight in Rycroft Way was still on. |
