English: Train Robbery
Mail Bags Stolen When the Cairns to Mareeba train arrived at Kuranda last night it was discovered that the mail waggon had been entered and rifled of eight bags of mail for Mareeba. One bag of letters and one of parcels had been slashed open with a knife, and letters, etc, were on the floor of the van and along the permanent way. It is believed that thieves boarded the train near Jungara hairpin bend, where they grade is very steep and progress slow, and interfered with the mail as the train was climbing the range to Stony Creek and Kuranda.
