Summary[edit]

Description
English: "Rebel Rebel" by David Bowie; one of A-side track labels of the US-manufactured vinyl release [Catalogue no. APB0-0287 (might have meant APBO-0287)]

This is most likely distributed to US customers mainly due to different catalogue number and time length of the track as opposed to the US-manufactured product whose catalogue number is LPBO-5009. According to multiple sources, like eBay, Discogs, bowie-singles.com, and a forum discussion, exports made in the US and France (catalogue no. LPBO-5009) were distributed and then sold to UK customers. However, as of now, no sources defined as reliable can confirm this.

Many 7-inch US-distributed vinyl products were released with generic sleeves, either plain or company-made. While picture sleeves became common by the 1960s (45 RPM: The History, Heroes and Villains of a Pop Music Revolution by Jim Dawson and Steve Propes, p. 68), this product lacked a picture sleeve as seen in eBay (US) and eBay (UK).

Licensing[edit]

Public domain
The depicted text is ineligible for copyright and therefore in the public domain because it is not a “literary work” or other protected type in sense of the local copyright law. Facts, data, and unoriginal information which is common property without sufficiently creative authorship in a general typeface or basic handwriting, and simple geometric shapes are not protected by copyright. This tag does not generally apply to all images of texts. Particular countries can have different legal definition of the “literary work” as the subject of copyright and different courts' interpretation practices. Some countries protect almost every written work, while other countries protect distinctively artistic or scientific texts and databases only. Extent of creativeness, function and length of the text can be relevant. The copyright protection can be limited to the literary form – the included information itself can be excluded from protection.
