Reconstruction Training School
Description
This image displays the exterior of the Training School building. This photo may be possibly related to the Commonwealth Reconstruction Training Scheme which was introduced in March 1944. This program was designed to provide educational and vocational training to those who served in Australia's armed services during World War II. The scheme provided training for ex-servicemen and women in order for them to re-establish themselves into suitable civilian occupations. By 1950 the scheme had accepted over 300,000 applicants. This scheme was also a part of a wider goal to re-establish economic growth in the post-war period of Australia.
