Description
English: Reconstruction drawing of a cauldron with a conical stand, busts of gryphons and lions on the rim of the cauldron. Olympia, beginning of 7th c. BCE. Lip diameter about 65 cm. Archaeological Museum of Olympia. Reference : John Boardman, 1980, 45. Two bronzes : 2 Protome of a griffin: Hammered. It belongs to the oldest group of promotes. From a Peloponesian workshop with influences from Late Hittite models. End of 8th -beginning of 7th c. BC. 3 Protome of a griffin. End of 8th -beginning of 7th c. BC.
Français : Dessin de reconstitution d'un chaudron à socle conique, sirènes barbues aux poignées, bustes de griffons et de lions sur le rebord du chaudron. Olympie, début VIIe s. AEC.
