English: Scientific name: Eudocimus ruber. The scarlet ibis is not commonly found north of Trinidad. Originally published in London, 1731-1743; 1771 edition revised by George Edwards, 1694-1773, when Linnaean Index was added. The hand-colored illustrations were etched by the author from his own drawings. Catesby's monogram is included on this plate. |
