Nederlands: Groep redders en geredden. - Aan de tegenwoordigheid van geest en het heldhaftig optreden van Hub. Krapels, no. 2 staande van links, bijgestaan door den Nederlands: veerman (beroep) van Bunde, Jac. Vroemen no. 1 staande van rechts, is de redding van de overige personen te danken. - Toen hun vaartuig, tengevolge van het verschuiven der lading wishout, midden op de Maas bij Itteren (prov. Limburg) begon te zinken, zwom Krapels naar den oever en haalde redding in het veerhuis. Aug. Smeets, no. 3 zittend van links, die reeds met den dood worstelde, toonde groote zelfopoffering en heldenmoed, door den redders toe te roepen; "Redt eerst mijne knechten" en door zijn lotgenooten moed in te spreken. |
