[edit]DescriptionRelationship between Run-up height inundation height and immersion depth in Japanese usage terms explained by FDMA and JWA.jpg |
English: Relationship between "immersion depth", "inundation height", "run-up height", and "ground" according to tsunami impacts in Japanese language usage. As explained by FDMA (総務省消防庁 = Fire and Disaster Management Agency at the 総務省 = Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications) and JWA (一般財団法人日本気象協会 = Japan Weather Association). Meaning: It sould not be confused, that the tsunami height (津波高) is the height of the tide level measured at sea by a tide station or ocean-wave meter, whereas the depth of flooding (浸水深), the height of inundation (浸水高) and the height of run-up (遡上高) are measured on the land level (water level). The inundation height (trace height) and the run-up height represent the net tsunami height with reference to the tide level at the time of the arrival of the tsunami (immediately before).
1): Mittlerer Wasserspiegel / Mean Sea Level (MSL) / 平均海面 Deutsch: Beziehung zwischen "Überflutungstiefe", "Inundationshöhe", "Auflaufhöhe" und "Gelände" bei Tsunami-Auswirkungen im japanischen Sprachgebrauch. Sensu FDMA (総務省消防庁 = Fire and Disaster Management Agency at the 総務省 = Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications) und JWA (一般財団法人日本気象協会 = Japan Weather Association).
