Summary
[edit]DescriptionRemains of a Neolithic ceremonial landscape from Drzemlikowice, Poland.jpg |
English: Aerial photography is a non-invasive method of archaeological prospection. Remains of various buildings and structures left by people in the past can still have a profound impact on crop growth and colour. This aerial image taken from a light aircraft reveals the remains of a prehistoric landscape including long houses, a henge and most prominently a Neolithic circular enclosure (known also as "rondels"). Rondels are regarded currently as mostly ceremonial and religious features and are still being discovered by archaeologists throughout Central Europe. They were built usually around 6500-6000 years ago and typically had multivallate concentric shape, often with inner palisades and gates.
