Description
Català: Restes de la porta principal, palau del real de València. Aquesta entrada va continuar sent la principal fins i tot després de la porta occidental al segle XVII. Estava situada al costat de la torre més important del Real, la dels Àngels, que la protegia. Entre 1356 i 1362 va ser fortificada mitjançant la construcció d'una torre paral·lela adossada a la façana, que la va convertir en una porta més monumental. En els segles posteriors aquesta segona torre va ser emmascarada en la nova façana barroca, però la sòlida planta inferior va ser reaprofitada com a cos de guàrdia per al destacament militar que custodiava l'accés. El portal principal del Real desembocava en el pati major, el qual tenia més de 25 metres de llarg i una escala exterior regia. Des d'aquest s'accedia als espais més importants, les sales nobles i privades del rei, la Reial Audiència,l'arxiu reial o les dependències del Mestre Racional.
