Hymns "Resurrexi et adhuc" and "Pascha nostrum", from an ancient Missal, reproduced in Praetorius' Syntagma Musicum.

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Reproduction of the unknown original, which according to Praetorius is an ancient Missal that exists in Guelphic Library in Wolfenbüttel. Praetorius writes: "This Missal is elegantly and skillfully transcribed on pure and clean parchment, in the year one thousand one hundred and fifteen, as the title page of the book indicates. However, since it was transcribed by another hand, one might speculate that it was written much earlier." Used as an illustration of the musical notations devised by John of Damascus, indicating intervals of ascent and descent.
