JPEG file comment | RICCI, Sebastiano
(b. 1659, Belluno, d. 1734, Venezia) Triumph of Pax and Abundatia over Mars 1706-07 Fresco Palazzo Marucelli-Fenzi, Florence In the first room on the south side of the courtyard of the Palazzo Marucelli-Fenzi, the ceiling fresco presents the Triumph of Pax (with olive branch) and Abundatia (with cornucopia) over Mars. The heavily shadowed figure of the war god is menaced by two putti and plunging backward in such a way that he falls out of the picture, having already lost his helmet and weapons.
