Español: Lémur de cola anillada: De hábitos más terrestres que otras especies, el lémur de cola anillada se encuentra en distintos tipos de bosque dentro de su área de distribución, desde los secos y caducos, a los de galería, donde sus poblaciones son más abundantes. Según la estación comen preferentemente hojas, flores hierbas o frutos, y tienen una especial predilección por el tamarindo.
Es una especie social que vive en grupos de hasta 20 individuos. Las hembras permanecen en su grupo natal y son dominantes sobre los machos. Paren una sola cría. Sus voces de alarma distinguen entre predadores alados –que sólo cazan crías- y terrestres, y el grupo reacciona en consecuencia. Ambos sexos poseen una glándula en las muñecas que producen una secreción olorosa usada para marcar su territorio. A veces frotan su cola con ella y la mueven suavemente al andar para dispersar el olor. |
