Description
English: Chennai Corporation(Corporation of Madras) was an oldest Municipal body outside Great Britain. The Corporation had been moved to the newly constructed Ripon Buildings on 1913 This historic building was designed by G.T.S. Harris and built by Loganatha Mudaliyar at a cost of Rupees 7,50,000. The foundation stone was laid by Lord Minto, the Viceroy of India on 12th December, 1909 and the building was named as Ripon Buildings while Lord Ripon was the Governor General of India. The new expanded Corporation of Chennai has 200 wards headed by Honourable Mayor R. Priya which are represented by 200 councillors

Ripon Buildings is a part of Central Square, a multimodal hub which serves as connectivity to Chennai Metro and the Central Railway station which has been inaugurated by Thiru. M.K. Stalin, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu on March, 30th, 2022.
