| Description |
English: "Rise" attempts to take elements of the current flag and rework them into something bold and simple. It's almost as if the viewer has zoomed in on a single point of a star on the current flag. The existing colours and 2:1 ratio have been retained. The red triangle is a wharenui, representing all the peoples of New Zealand. The white angle is the "long white cloud" for which Aotearoa is named. The blue triangles are the sky or the sea, representing nature. The design is symmetrical, so the flag is the same when viewed from either side. The angles are all created using the golden ratio. "Rise" contains two arrows pointing upwards, symbolic of a nation continuing to progress and improve. |
