Description
Italiano: I Riti Settennali di Penitenza in onore dell’Assunta sono una manifestazione religiosa, ed allo stesso una grande festa popolare che vede la partecipazione dell’intera comunità di Guardia Sanframondi, piccolo centro della Provincia di Benevento (Italia), e dei fedeli dei centri limitrofi. I Riti sono celebrati in onore dell’Assunta, alla quale il popolo di Guardia si è sempre rivolto per fronteggiare le calamità naturali e gli eventi nefasti. Durano una settimana, dal lunedì alla domenica e nel corso di questi 7 giorni le strade del centro sannita sono attraversate da 10 diverse processioni. La più importante, la processione generale, si tiene di domenica: è questa che vede la partecipazione dei battenti, penitenti che vestono un saio ed un cappuccio bianco e si battono ripetutamente il petto con un pezzo di sughero nel quale sono conficcati una serie di spilli in acciaio.
