The foundation stone was laid on the occasion of the diamond jubilee of the Christchurch City Council. On the left is Michael James McCarthy who was a leading hand at the business of John A. Tait, builder & monumental mason, 52 Cashel Street, who had produced the foundation stone using a block of granite. |
