Description
Deutsch: Das Symposium geht der Frage nach, warum das Phänomen Cyberpunk gerade 2020 inmitten einer globalen Pandemie offenbar einen Nerv getroffen hat. Zugleich schließt sich damit ein Kreis, da das in den 1980er-Jahren entwickelte Pen-&-Paper-Rollenspiel zu Cyberpunk im Jahr 2022 angesiedelt ist und daher auch das Computerspiel immer wieder mit Rückblenden auf dieses Jahr arbeitet. Im Zentrum des Symposiums stehen sowohl das Computerspiel mit seiner spielbaren Inszenierung eines Retrofuturismus als auch die Vision einer technisch-digitalen Zukunft mit apokalyptischen, anthropologischen und kapitalistischen Dimensionen.
