Description

A fleet of cars was purchased for the planned visit of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth to New Zealand in 1952.


This photograph, from the Former Post and Telegraph/Telecom Museum Holdings series, shows the official fleet of Daimler cars ready for the arrival of the newly-crowned Queen Elizabeth II and her husband Prince Philip in Wellington, 9 January 1954.

2 limousines—one at each end, in the middle 2 all-weather cars (one with clear perspex head), 2 landaulettes—on either side of the all-weather cars.


Also 2 Humber Pullman, 6 Austin Princess, 12 Humber Super Snipe (police escort), 4 Daimler Conquest, 1 Vauxhall Velox
