Summary[edit]

Description
English: Photograph of the Rudra Mahalaya Temple at Siddhpur from James Burgess' 'Photographs of Architecture and Scenery in Gujarat and Rajputana' taken by Colin Murray in c.1872. This is a view of the massive ruined archways of the temple. This temple, dedicated to Shiva, was erected during the Solanki dynasty of Gujarat in the 12th Century. Only some fragments remain after the destruction by Ahmad Shah in the early 14th Century. The ornamentation of the temple was extreme and exuberant as shown by the the elaborate eave and architrave of the gateway in this view.
